Found this article about the 4 stances we have while reading (pg 7). Might be an interesting exploration with kids during IR time and/or shared reading. The information about struggling readers was interesting (pg 12).
Some quick ideas I thought might be interesting to explore:
1. Creating readers' circles - a place to explore new ideas from books, examples of great writing, problems we are having with text... a place to discuss books. This could be based on level or not...
2. PG 10 explores the power of quick writes. (or PTT - Private Thought Time from CEL math!)
3. Goal: moving away from 1 interpretation of the text...with 20 different books that's an easy move to make! ;) (pg 11)
